Bad weather: mobilisation of the Vigilance Committee

The Vigilance Committee of the Safi province decided, at the end of a meeting held last Thursday, to renew, for the year 2015-2016, the same programme and the same strategy adopted last year in terms of fighting against the risks of damage that could possibly be caused in the event of bad weather. In this sense, the renewal of this programme attests to the efficiency of its structure and design. The said programme is able to establish, in a participatory approach, the joint involvement of State services and territorial authorities, as well as that of elected officials.

Its adoption a second time is also explained by its vigilance mechanism, whose action is essentially focused on the division of the provincial territory into four intervention units, namely Jemaa Shaim at the level of the Abda circle, the city of Gzoula, Hrara, and the localities attached to it. To this is added Safi in its capacity as a city housing a large population and the main socio-economic establishments, with all that this implies in terms of means and logistics available to State services and those of public bodies.

"Everything has been finalised: the programme, the location of the machinery and that of the services, as well as the designation of coordinators at the level of the four units concerned," indicated, during the meeting, Abdelfattah Labjioui, Governor of the province, urging the members of the Vigilance Committee to a joint and constant mobilisation to successfully carry out the mission entrusted to them. Furthermore, the anticipatory measures adopted by this programme have been able to mitigate everything that is likely to affect the life of the population. Indeed, all the necessary provisions have been taken to ensure both the safety of basic installations and equipment and that of the structures attached to them (roads, bridges, poles and electric wires, drinking water and sanitation networks, gullies, manholes, etc.). Also, it would be desirable to schedule from now on an awareness campaign for the population residing in risk zones, not far from certain black spots.
