Celebration of the memory of intangible heritage

The city of Safi is celebrating, on 30 April, "The memory of intangible heritage" through the organisation of several artistic events, within the framework of the national festivities marking the Heritage Month in Morocco (18 April-18 May). Organised by the delegation of the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the "Al Kalima" Foundation for Arts and Culture, this artistic event is also part of the cultural activities of the City of Arts of Safi, scheduled from 24 to 30 April. This day dedicated to heritage will be enhanced by the participation of creators and artists of national renown, including Fatima Boubekdi, a director who works in her series and films on Moroccan heritage, the writer Thami Ouazzani, the artist Aicha Bouhmid and the musical troupes Gnaoua Bambara, Ouled Benâguida and the artist Jamal Zerhouni. The participating artists will present their experiences in terms of the exploitation and presence of the rich and varied national heritage in their artistic works, indicates a statement from the delegation of the Ministry of Culture. The cultural programme of the City of Arts of Safi, whose activities will begin on Thursday, includes the stage presentation of the play "Hawa ba'hri" by the Shubra al-Khaima troupe (Egypt), written by the Emirati playwright Saleh Karama Al Ameri and directed by the Egyptian Khalil Tameem. This play had won the Grand Prize for dramatic writing at the Sharjah Festival (United Arab Emirates). Within the framework of the celebration of World Book and Copyright Day and the National Reading Day, the Regional Library of Safi is hosting on Friday evening a study day dedicated to the Moroccan writer Zahra Ramij, providing for recitals and readings given by several student-researchers. Monday 28 April will be marked by the presentation of the documentary film "The land of the desert" by director Salah Jbali. On Tuesday 29 April, the play "The kingdom of women" (Mamlakat Annissaâ) by the theatrical troupe "Al Masra'h al Hadit" (contemporary theatre) of Casablanca will also be presented on stage.
