Signed by the President of the House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, and the President of the CEMAC Parliament, Evariste Ngamana, who is visiting the Kingdom at the head of an important delegation, this agreement is part of the continuity of relations between CEMAC countries and Morocco, based on historical and cultural ties and shared values of development, cooperation, solidarity, and mutual respect.
It also reflects the interest that both parties attach to the promotion and development of economic relations between CEMAC countries and the Kingdom, as well as to the strengthening of joint cooperation possibilities between the two parties.
The agreement also reflects the importance that both parties attach to the establishment of parliamentary partnerships between the CEMAC Parliament and the House of Councillors in order to promote the exchange of experiences on topics and issues of common interest.
By virtue of this agreement, the two parties affirm the role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening cooperation and unifying positions on bilateral and regional issues, as well as in exploring means to develop economic, commercial, and human relations and exploit the promising potential for cooperation between CEMAC countries and Morocco.
In this sense, the House of Councillors and the CEMAC Parliament welcomed the important role played by Morocco, under the wise leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, in strengthening the foundations of stability, security, and development in Africa through the launch of strategic development initiatives, in particular the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, the Atlantic Initiative, and the Initiative to promote access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean.
Likewise, they underlined the importance of South-South cooperation as a key factor in facing international and regional challenges, and as a mechanism to implement a structural transformation of the economies of Southern countries and lay the foundations for strong and sustainable growth, praising the efforts made by the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa to promote integration in the CEMAC zone, as well as the important role it plays in achieving regional integration objectives on the African continent and in establishing an authentic African unity.
