The meeting took place within the framework of "strengthening bilateral cooperation relations, deepening exchanges on issues of common interest, and examining recent developments in the region," the Ministry of Justice indicated in a statement, noting that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on shared strategic issues.
During the meeting, Ouahbi presented an overview of the ambitious reforms undertaken by Morocco in various fields, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Likewise, he reiterated the Kingdom's readiness to collaborate closely with the Republic of Iraq, particularly through the finalisation of judicial cooperation agreements in civil and criminal matters.
Ouahbi also underlined the importance of developing partnerships in the fields of digital transformation, legislation, exchange of expertise, and training, based on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two Ministries of Justice on 4 May 2023.
The Minister also renewed Morocco's commitment to the sovereignty, security, and stability of Iraq, praising the remarkable efforts made by the Iraqi authorities in this regard.
He also reiterated the Kingdom's firm opposition to any attack on the territorial integrity of Iraq, and stressed the need to avoid any escalation, while ensuring the protection of all components of Iraqi society.
For his part, Al-Araji, after underlining the depth of the bonds of friendship that unite Iraq and Morocco, praised the excellence of the bilateral cooperation and expressed his desire for it to be intensified in the coming years.
The Iraqi official also affirmed the Iraqi government's commitment to the consolidation of the relations of friendship and partnership between the two brotherly countries.
Likewise, he stressed the common will to "promote the values of peace and stability on a regional and international scale, in accordance with a shared vision of a future marked by greater prosperity and sustainable development."
