The Moroccan Parliament, with its two Chambers, the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors, is organizing, in collaboration with the "Future Meetings Foundation", as well as the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic of Chile, the next edition of the "Congress of the Future", on December 17 and 18 at the Parliament headquarters in Rabat.
This event will constitute an opportunity to exchange points of view between parliamentarians, government officials, scientists, researchers, and key actors on issues that concern the future of humanity, indicates a statement from Parliament, adding that the meeting will be marked by the participation of parliamentarians, ministers, officials, and specialists from Morocco and Chile, as well as academics and experts from Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
This edition will address several current issues, including the challenges facing the world of the future, climate change, international migration, strengthening peace and security in the world, food security, North-South cooperation, global health challenges, energy transition and its prospects, transformations of human relations and social ties in the 21st century, the impacts of artificial intelligence on the economy and society, the promotion of tolerance and gender equality, as well as Africa as a continent of the future.
The organization of this edition in the Kingdom of Morocco, for the first time in an African country, consecrates the position of the Kingdom as a hub for scientific reflection on issues of interest to African and Arab world countries and peoples, as well as in the field of South-South cooperation.
It also highlights the unique position that the Kingdom occupies, both in Africa and within the political, parliamentary, and economic communities and blocs of Latin America.
Since 2011, the National Congress of Chile has organized the "Congress of the Future" in cooperation with the Chilean Government, through the ministries of the Presidency of the Republic and Foreign Affairs, the Chilean Academy of Sciences, about twenty universities, as well as a set of think tanks, research institutes, institutions, and non-governmental organizations and public and private establishments.
The previous editions of this event, considered one of the most important scientific meetings in Latin America and the Caribbean, were distinguished by the participation of numerous thinkers, scientists, researchers, artists, and influencers from all over the world. This congress also attracts the attention of the international scientific community thanks to the participation of several Nobel Prize winners.
The Congress of the Future constitutes a space for debate on the challenges and issues on the international agenda and on the future of humanity. It has developed to become a platform for creating ideas capable of supporting future decisions and concretizing practical solutions in order to face the major transformations that global societies will face in the future.
