The Parliament of Morocco is organising, in collaboration with the "Fondation des Rencontres du Futur", as well as the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic of Chile, the next edition of the "Congrès du Futur", on 17 and 18 December in Rabat.
In the presence of the authorities who will participate in this meeting, members of the Chilean Parliamentary Commission on Future Challenges, Science and Technology in Innovation announced what the Chile-Morocco Future Bicameral Congress will be, which will take place in Rabat.
Chilean senators Ximena Rincón and Francisco Chahuán met with the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, and the Executive Vice-President of the Fondation Encuentros del Futuro, Guido Girardi, to brief the Chilean press on what will be one of the main stages in the internationalisation process of the scientific dissemination event, the Congreso Futuro.
There will also be the participation of an important Chilean delegation, according to the statement from the Chilean Senate, composed of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren; the Minister of Public Works, Jessica López; the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow; and the Minister of Education, Nicolás Cataldo.
Chilean Senator Francisco Chahuán indicated, "We will have this experience in Morocco, on which we have been working for nearly three years and which benefits from the support of the Executive and the Parliament of Morocco. We will have the possibility to continue generating this seal of ideas which is precisely the Congreso Futuro brand. This will be the prelude to the Congrès du Futur that we will hold from 13 to 18 January in Chile."
"During the visit, we will be accompanied by a delegation from this ministry, members of the Commission on Future Challenges, and the Executive Vice-President of the Fondation Encuentros del Futuro. The Moroccan experience will be powerful. The idea is to know how we project the Congrès du Futur, the debate of ideas, the challenges, and how we manage to build local responses to global problems. We have already had the experience of a binational congress with Bolivia and in Argentina. In March, we hope to organise an Ibero-American Congress of the Future in Madrid," he summarised.
For her part, Senator Ximena Rincón highlighted the participation of national authorities in the event, such as the Ministers of Energy, Diego Pardow, and Public Works, Jessica López, who will speak about the evolution of these public policies in the country.
Rincón acknowledged that "the one that particularly excites me, and which we are going to develop in Morocco, is artificial intelligence. We would like to thank the Moroccan Parliament for this commitment and for holding this Congrès du Futur, because it not only allows us to show what we have done here in Chile, but also to continue advancing in the internationalisation of what began 14 years ago when we created the Future Commission with our colleagues Girardi, Chahuán, Coloma, and others who continue to make this effort today."
"We will be accompanied by the Vice-President of the Senate, Matías Walker. I think this is one more step towards consolidating the fact that we must anticipate challenges and be capable of legislating, as we have done in areas as important as neuroscience, transport, the green economy, forests, and artificial intelligence, for which the government has undertaken the work that we did at the artificial intelligence table for the legislative debate," she recalled.
For his part, the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, highlighted that "Chile has over 15 years of experience in clean energy policies and the Congrès du Futur was one of the first places where people started talking about green hydrogen. Morocco has a position very similar to ours; it is a country with great solar potential and an extensive coastline that allows them to consider the challenge of clean energy and promote innovation."
In turn, the Vice-President of the Fondation Encuentros del Futuro, Guido Girardi, recalled that "the Congrès Futuro is one of the most important events on the planet. It is an entity that brings together all sectors and promotes a conversation between all people without political colour from the academic, scientific, and economic worlds. The effort to generate a common vision is fundamental; this does not happen anywhere else, and that is why there is interest in the Chilean model which generates important political agreements.
