"EuroscienceFun" in Rabat, a first in Africa and the Arab world

Organized by Mohammed V University of Rabat, the Averroes Foundation for the promotion of scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development, and the Faculty of Sciences of Rabat in partnership with the European “EuroFunScience” network of the University of Geneva, this event marks a “historic” milestone by being the first edition to be held in an Arab and African country, Mohammed V University of Rabat indicated in a statement on Saturday.



This conference offers an “unprecedented platform” for Morocco, allowing the country to be positioned as a regional center for scientific communication, the same source emphasizes, adding that the event will contribute to strengthening ties between Moroccan and international academic institutions, while inspiring the next generation of scientific communicators.

With a program including a series of lectures, interactive workshops, and practical sessions led by European experts in scientific communication, this event will feature several highlights, notably at the official opening, punctuated by speeches from the President of Mohammed V University of Rabat, Farid El Bacha, and the representative of the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Mr. Khalid Berrada.

The conference will also feature plenary sessions on best practices in scientific mediation, with contributions from renowned international teams such as “Freezing Physics” from Leiden and “Science Gateway”, the statement notes.

This event, supported by the Sciencescope of the University of Geneva and the Museum of the History of Sciences, will also be marked by the organization of a cultural visit to Rabat, including the Bank Al Maghrib Museum, an improvisation theater workshop focused on personal development and creative communication techniques, and will be closed by a joint show that will present the results of the week's exchanges and learning.

Bringing together experts in scientific communication, organizers of scientific shows, as well as students, researchers, and professionals wishing to promote science in a fun and engaging way, this initiative is designed to foster interaction between science and the general public, while encouraging the exchange of current knowledge in scientific mediation, the statement concludes.
