The police prefecture services of Oujda proceeded, during the first two months of 2013, to the arrest of 4,560 people suspected of being involved in various offences and crimes.
Among those arrested, 1,040 were wanted at the national level, according to a report from the police prefecture, which specifies that 4,340 people were referred to justice between 1 January and 28 February.
During this period, the same services subjected more than 31,510 people to identity checks.
The interventions of the Oujda police resulted in the seizure of 160 bladed weapons, 70 mobile phones, 50 motorcycles, 152 vehicles, and 90 engines and auto parts.
In the context of the fight against drug trafficking, the Oujda police also seized more than 198.5 kg of Chira, 24 kg of kif, 77 g of cocaine, 55.5 g of heroin, more than 3,400 packets of contraband cigarettes, 1,130 psychotropic tablets, more than 12 kg of tobacco, 51 kg of cannabis, and 6,440 bottles of contraband alcohol.
Furthermore, the Oujda police prefecture issued 5,730 traffic code contraventions, impounded 1,360 vehicles, and seized amounts totalling 874,823 dirhams, in addition to 55,800 Algerian dinars, 1,620 euros, and 450 US dollars.
