This cultural event, which kicked off Friday evening at Ziri Ibn Attiya Square, is organized by the Orient-Occident Foundation on the occasion of World Refugee Day, celebrated on June 20. A posthumous tribute will be paid to the Cape Verdean singer Césaria Evora, nicknamed the barefoot diva, the organizers indicated, adding that this Festival intends to pursue its main mission centered on the mixing of cultures and the bringing together of peoples. It is in a festive atmosphere, marked by varied and original artistic performances that this event, based on exchange and the discovery of Africa, will take place, they noted. Oujda-Africa, which constitutes a space for meetings between artists from Africa and elsewhere, will be declined in a multitude of activities, shows, exhibitions, and concerts, thus offering access to culture for all. The first evening of this edition was marked by music shows hosted in particular by the Lugamba troupe from the Democratic Republic of Congo and local music groups. In addition to music concerts, the program of this cultural event also provides for shows for children (games, clown...), a painting competition under the theme: Morocco-Africa, the screening of the Moroccan film Dar Lakbira, a meeting-debate on cultural diversity, and the presentation of a play entitled Khaddoum.
