Hassania School of Public Works: Students get involved in humanitarian work

Since November 2011, a group of five students from the Hassania School of Public Works has planned aid for migrants living in difficult conditions in Oujda. To do this, several steps were taken. Initially, they contacted various associations for greater action in this direction. The associations contacted were the AEBM (Association of Burkinabe Students in Morocco) and the ASSESIM (Association of Ivorian Students and Trainees in Morocco). These, through various announcements on Facebook, encouraged their members to participate in a potential clothing collection.

This campaign was conducted from January to April. At the same time, the group was able to count on the support of two other associations, namely the AMPER (Friendly Association of Foreign Medical and Pharmacy Students of Rabat) and the OMJC (Moroccan Organisation of Citizen Youth). With the latter, a long-term project was established: consulting and treating migrant women and children for free. After several months of hard work, the group was able to collect three bales of clothing for men and women as well as a carton of soap. These donations were shared equally: one part for Caritas in Casablanca and another for migrants residing in Oujda. The visit to Oujda took place on Wednesday, 25 April. This day was marked by a visit to the places where migrants live in painful conditions in the forest located away from the city. In addition, the students were able to discuss with the migrants their daily lives and their needs.
