Study day in Oujda: The Universal Periodic Review of human rights under debate

The Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights is organising a regional study day this Saturday in Oujda on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) mechanism.

Initiated in collaboration with the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and the Mohammed Premier University of Oujda, this study day aims to promote mastery of the methodology adopted to prepare the national report on the UPR, which will be presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council on 22 May 2012, a statement from the Delegation indicates. More generally, it is a matter of promoting dialogue with all parties concerned by the preparation of national reports relating to human rights, namely government departments, national institutions, civil society, trade unions, experts, and the media, the same source adds.

Several local regional actors in the field of human rights will be involved, notably representatives of the CNDH regional commission, regional delegations of public administrations, academics, trade unionists, and representatives of civil society and the media.

This study day, which will take place at the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences of Oujda, is part of a consultative process led by the Delegation for the preparation of the national report for the second cycle of the UPR.

Several study days have recently been organised in the same framework in other cities of the Kingdom, the most recent of which took place on 16 December in Marrakech.
