More than 75% of film productions in Morocco in 2014 were shot in Ouarzazate, indicated the director of the Ouarzazate Film Commission, Abderrazzak Zitouny, highlighting the large influx of foreign productions to Morocco in general, and to Ouarzazate in particular, during the current year. This revival of the film sector in Ouarzazate has had a very positive impact on the city's tourism activity, marked by a considerable increase in the number of overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation establishments, added Abderrazzak Zitouny. Preparations are underway in Ouarzazate to host several films whose shooting will begin at the end of August/beginning of September in the city's various studios, he specified, noting that the shooting duration of some of these films will exceed 4 months, which will create some 3,000 working days for extras and technicians. Abderrazzak Zitouny added that the city is preparing to host the shooting of the French film "The New Adventures of Aladdin" soon, directed by Arthur Benzaquen with several French cinema stars in the lead roles, notably the comedian Kev Adams. Regarding the major Hollywood production "Batman Vs Superman", whose shooting is scheduled to begin next September in Ouarzazate, Abderrazzak Zitouny affirmed that it will contribute to promoting the filming locations and boosting the city's international profile. According to the director of the Ouarzazate Film Commission, this resumption of film activity in Ouarzazate requires the deployment of more efforts in terms of promotion, marketing, and strengthening of film infrastructure, notably through the opening of cinemas, training in film professions, and the creation of an integrated activity zone dedicated entirely to the film art "one-stop shop". He added in this sense that it will also be necessary to strengthen health and tourist infrastructure, as well as telecommunications infrastructure in the city, to meet the many requirements of the sector and face the fierce international competition in this area.
