"The micro-short story, from the universal to the local" is the theme of the 4th edition of the Micro-Short Story Festival which is being held from 14 to 16 March in Nador.
Initiated by the Joussour Association for Cultural and Artistic Research, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and a group of private partners, this event is attended by a galaxy of writers and critics coming from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Yemen, Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Tunisia and Morocco.
This event is named "Amina Berouadi storyteller edition" in order to pay tribute to this figure who knew how to combine educational work and writing. She has published a series of works that establish her place as a confirmed writer both on a national and international scale, indicate the organisers.
The programme for this cultural event contains varied activities aiming in particular to establish the foundations of the micro-short story and encourage new generations to take the step of writing and unleash their talents, stressed the festival director, Jamal Eddine El Khadiri, in a statement to the MAP.
This Festival, which has succeeded for years in welcoming renowned figures in the field of the micro-short story, constitutes an opportunity for researchers and specialists to look into the novelties of this literary genre, just as it represents an opportunity for young people to develop their experience and exchange their points of view, he added.
This region is experiencing an important cultural movement thanks to the efforts provided by a group of writers, he said, pointing out that in order to support this trend it is necessary to put in place appropriate infrastructure and accompany the talents who have proven themselves in the field.
On the programme for this event are notably round tables on "The short stories of Amina Berouadi", "Aesthetics in the micro-short story", readings, as well as a tribute that will be paid to writers who have shone in the field of the micro-short story.
The 2nd edition of the Nador Micro-Short Story Festival which was held in 2013 was marked by the establishment of the Arab League of the Micro-Short Story. On this occasion, the city of Nador was chosen as the permanent headquarters of this cultural body.
