"Bio-Solutions, biological alternatives to pesticides in a changing climate" is the theme of a conference that will be organised on 22 May in Meknès, at the initiative of the Association of Engineers of the National School of Agriculture of Meknès (AIENA).
The meeting, which will be initiated in partnership with the National School of Agriculture of Meknès (ENA), aims to stimulate reflection and promote the adoption of innovative biological solutions as sustainable alternatives to chemical pesticides, particularly in the context of a changing climate.
According to a statement from the organisers, it is also about nourishing collective reflection and facilitating the implementation of innovative solutions, focusing on the use of bio-solutions as biological alternatives to pesticides.
It is also intended to be a hub for exchanges to disseminate knowledge on the viability of these innovations to all concerned actors: producers, engineers, technicians, agricultural companies, cooperatives, and other operators in the sector, the same source emphasises.
The meeting is part of the association's 2024-2027 action plan to advance sustainable agricultural practices.
"We are bringing together leading experts and practitioners to explore tangible bio-solutions capable of improving both the quality and quantity of agricultural production, while respecting our environment," indicates the President of AIENA, Baghaz Ahmed, quoted in the statement.
The event is expected to bring together national operators from various agricultural production sectors and will offer a space for exchange and sharing of ideas to develop biological solutions in a changing climate in order to improve agricultural production in qualitative and quantitative terms.
The programme includes sessions on regulatory frameworks, agro-ecology, bio-pesticide authorisation, genetic resistance, and water-saving bio-solutions, led by experts from research institutes, government bodies, and the private sector.
Several themes will be addressed during this conference, including "Organic agriculture between regulatory constraints and sustainable development", "Agro-ecology and organic agriculture: What opportunities for sustainable development?" and "Authorisation procedures for bio-pesticides and bio-stimulants".
