On this occasion, all human and logistical resources available to the Meknes Security Prefecture, as well as those placed at its disposal, were mobilised to ensure the smooth running of the New Year's celebrations, by covering various key points in the Ismaili capital.
In a speech during a meeting organised shortly before the deployment of the various units mobilised for this purpose, the Prefect of Police of Meknes, Sadek Tarchouli, stated that the Security Prefecture has mobilised all human resources and logistical means placed at its disposal, and has taken a series of preventive measures within the framework of strict plans developed in previous meetings attended by all relevant services.
Mr. Tarchouli mentioned that the city of Meknes has experienced major security operations in recent months to combat crime and acts that affect the safety of citizens, adding that these operations resulted in the arrest of a significant number of people who were the subject of search warrants, and others involved in various cases.
He pointed out that the General Directorate of National Security recently provided the Meknes Security Prefecture with modern and equipped police cars to respond to the needs of citizens, noting that for the New Year, it was decided to divide the city into geographical areas to enable each one to have a security unit that ensures security within it.
The Prefect of Police of Meknes also reported that mobile units have been mobilised to secure hotel establishments in the city and their entrances, strengthen existing judicial barriers, and reinforce traffic teams.
The same official explained that the goal is to ensure that the New Year's celebrations pass in the best conditions, by enhancing the sense of security among citizens and strengthening their confidence in the police force.
