Folklore groups representing these two arts of the Kingdom's cultural and civilisational heritage performed, presenting colourful and exceptional traditional tableaux to the great delight of a very large audience that filled the large hall of the said cultural centre.
It was the Ahidouss group "Imazighen Amdoudan", led by Maestro Hamid Ahajji, that opened the ball for this evening with a show combining mountain songs and sounds, this art being one of the expressions of Amazigh culture, particularly that of the Middle Atlas.
Also taking the stage were the Rouaiss group led by Raiss Hassan Arsmouk and the Ahouach group "Noujoum Maamoura", led by the artist Rachid El Amraoui.
The arts of Ahouach and Rouaiss, two living traditions representing the High and Anti-Atlas, were thus honoured during this evening, which took place in the presence of certain European diplomats.
In a statement to the MAP, the president of the "Maroc Patrimoine" association, the initiator of the evening, Hassan Boukaddour, stressed the importance of celebrating the Amazigh New Year by honouring the arts of the various Moroccan Amazigh regions, particularly the Middle, High, and Anti-Atlas.
This 11th edition of Idh Yennayer was enhanced by the presence of diplomats from different countries, notably the ambassadors of countries such as Denmark and the United Kingdom, and the European Union.
The evening was also punctuated by a vibrant tribute paid to Amazigh artists, namely the artists Mohamed Aghallal and El Hassan Chaaban.
The celebration of Idh Yennayer marks the beginning of the agricultural season for the Amazigh people and reflects an attachment to the land, as the event has always been linked to agricultural activity.
It carries a strong symbolic significance reflecting the rootedness and diversity of the Moroccan cultural fabric, as well as the will to move forward in the effective implementation of the official character of the Amazigh language.
Furthermore, the proclamation of the Amazigh New Year as an official national holiday has given a strong impetus to the process of implementing measures aimed at strengthening national Amazigh action, particularly in its cultural dimension.
