Meknes will host the 4th International Thermal Congress

The fourth edition of the International Thermal Congress (AMT'2016) will be organised, on 19 and 20 April, under the theme "Thermal regulation of housing: reality and perspective".

Co-organised by the Moroccan Thermal Association (AMT) and the National Higher School of Arts and Crafts of Meknes (ENSAM), this event will see the participation of researchers representing notably Morocco, Algeria, Spain, France, Tunisia, and Portugal.

It will focus notably on energy efficiency, considered today as a fourth energy after fossil fuels, renewable energies, and nuclear energy.

In line with an openness to the professional world, this event aims to boost scientific exchanges between national and international specialists in housing thermal science.

It also aims to connect researchers and operators in the field of housing in order to implement the regulation relating to energy efficiency in urban housing.

The symposium will also focus on Morocco's efforts to ensure better use of energy in all areas of economic and social activity, by working to rationalise and improve energy consumption to meet its growing energy needs.

According to a presentation note of this symposium, it has become necessary to apply an ambitious energy efficiency policy in a context of almost total energy dependence of the country on foreign countries and significant fluctuation in energy prices, within the framework of the new energy strategy, aiming to exploit the significant potential in energy efficiency that Morocco possesses.

The note recalls Law 47-09 relating to energy efficiency which underlines that "general construction regulations" must also set the energy performance rules for constructions in order to guarantee a better energy balance of buildings by climatic zones by dealing, notably, with orientation, lighting, insulation, and thermal flows, as well as renewable energy contributions in order to strengthen performance levels.
