The gendarmerie hands over to the police
It is now a done deal. The seaside resort of Mehdia and its surrounding areas have come under the control of the National Security, thus replacing the services of the Royal Gendarmerie which had been ensuring the safety of residents and holidaymakers for several decades. The opening of the new Mehdia police district took place in the presence of the governor of the Kenitra province, Fouad M’hamdi, the prefect of police of Kenitra, Abdallah Mahsoun, and several civil and military personalities. The inauguration of a new police district in Mehdia responds to the requirements of strong demographic pressure and exponential urbanisation.Its area of operation concerns the zones of Mehdia-plage, the Kasbah of Mehdia, and the neighbourhoods of Oulad Oujih and Al-Maghrib Al-Arabi.
