'The creation of this university is part of the strengthening of university and scientific research infrastructures, in accordance with the High Royal Orientations, aiming to ensure quality training for human resources in the health sector and guarantee their upgrading and adaptation to scientific and technological evolution,' noted the general director of the Marrakech campus and dean of the Mohammed VI Faculty of Medicine, Ahmed Ghassan El Adib, during a press conference organised on Wednesday to present the courses offered by this higher education institution.

He explained that this campus is part of the project to create a hospital-university centre in the ochre city, supported by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sciences and Health, which also includes the construction of the Mohammed VI Hospital-University Complex of Marrakech.

This campus, which brings together the Mohammed VI Faculty of Medicine, the Mohammed VI Higher School of Engineering in Health Sciences, and the Mohammed VI Faculty of Nursing Sciences and Health Professions, allows students to flourish, thanks to its university residences, cultural and sports activities, as well as the relaxation spaces it has, he insisted.

Prof. Ghassan El Adib, in this context, noted that courses will begin in September 2025 at the UM6SS campus in Marrakech, indicating that the common entrance exam for the 2025-2026 academic year will be organised on July 13, simultaneously on all UM6SS campuses (Rabat, Casablanca, Dakhla, Marrakech, and Agadir).

He also recalled that the UM6SS is committed to promoting excellence and equity through a scholarship programme, specifying that excellence scholarships are intended for the most deserving students, regardless of their financial situation, by valuing their academic path.

In parallel, he continued, social scholarships are put in place to strengthen equity and allow more students to access quality training, observing that these two initiatives reflect the commitment and social responsibility of the UM6SS in favour of inclusive and excellent education.

During this press conference, Prof. Ghassan El Adib also presented the construction project of the Mohammed VI Hospital-University Complex of Marrakech, whose opening is scheduled for 2027, noting that this hospital structure will have 300 beds and places, 10 operating theatres, 50 intensive care beds, as well as state-of-the-art equipment.

A leader in its field, the UM6SS, which opened its doors in 2014, has the mission of ensuring the training of experts and skills in the health and science professions and promoting research and expertise to meet the needs of the populations.

The university has nearly 8,100 students, including more than 350 foreign students, and offers training in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, biomedical engineering, health sciences and techniques, public health, biosciences and biotechnologies, and governance, leadership, and behavioural sciences.
