In an atmosphere that was both solemn and warm, the large audience, including families, music lovers, and discerning connoisseurs, was able to discover young pianists from Morocco, Europe, and Asia, delivering vibrant interpretations of great works from the romantic and contemporary repertoire.
The competition, structured around several levels ranging from intermediate to excellence, highlighted talents with contrasting worlds, but all driven by the same artistic rigour and a highly sensitive musicality.
Supported by a sober and elegant scenography, each performance seemed to suspend time, revealing the raw emotion of a Beethoven, the virtuosity of a Chopin, or the subtlety of a Debussy, in a permanent dialogue between the pianist, their instrument, and the attentive silence of the hall.
This closing evening was notably marked by an emotional sequence, with the presentation of trophies and certificates to the winners of the higher classes.
In a statement to MAP, the president of the “Mouvement Contraire Maroc” competition, Lamia Boukaa, stressed that this edition successfully combined excellence and accessibility, opening the doors of scholarly music to a wide audience while maintaining a very high level of artistic demand.
For Ms. Boukaa, this competition “is above all a human experience, a space for transmission and encounter, where musical youth asserts itself with strength, far from stereotypes and the usual entertainment circuits”.
She maintained that the strong participation in this edition, with more than 200 candidates, reflects above all the “growing interest” that the piano is experiencing in Morocco.
The presence of an international jury composed of concert performers and renowned pedagogues reinforced the credibility of the competition, while offering participants critical feedback of great pedagogical value on their interpretations.
Conceived as a true musical encounter, this competition, initiated under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, aims to be a bridge between musical heritage and contemporary creation.
Offering a platform for young pianists to express their talent, while fostering pedagogical exchanges with experienced trainers, the event aims to reveal new figures on the national piano scene and strengthen bridges between cultures and generations through classical music.
