Moroccans of the World (MDM) with exceptional and inspiring paths were celebrated during the 7th edition of the Moroccan World Trophies (TMM 2025), organised on Saturday evening in Marrakech.

Initiated by the Moroccan World Trophies Foundation, this event has now established itself as an unmissable appointment to highlight the talents of MDMs and strengthen the ties between Moroccan communities abroad and their country of origin, Morocco.

No fewer than eighteen nominees, with three candidates in each of the six categories, were in the running for the TMM, which reward exceptional personalities from the community of Moroccan origin in the fields of arts and culture, scientific research, the political world, business, sport, or civil society.

Thus, the Trophy for the "Scientific Research" category was awarded to Mimoun Azzouz, professor of translational neuroscience and director of the Gene Therapy Innovation and Manufacturing Centre at the University of Sheffield. The work of this Moroccan researcher has played an essential role in the development of treatments for human degenerative diseases.

The jury awarded the Trophy for the "Art and Culture" category to director Said Hamich Benlarbi, who has left his mark on the film industry.

Kickboxer Tarik Khbabez was, for his part, honoured in the "Sport" category, while Nora Achahbar, former State Secretary for Benefits and Customs in the Netherlands, was distinguished in the "Politics" category, in recognition of her activism for equal opportunities and social justice.

Association activist Mohamed El Mazzouji was awarded the Trophy in the "Associative Life" category, while Mostapha Lassik was distinguished in the "Business" category. This entrepreneur manages the "MipihSIB" group, a Public Interest Group, the leading public actor serving the digital transformation of health establishments, local authorities, and decentralised State services.

The jury for the 2025 edition of the TMM was composed of Fouad Laroui, talented writer and university professor based in the Netherlands, Fatima Yadani, Moroccan-French political figure and General Treasurer Secretary of the Socialist Party (France), Nordine Oubaali, former boxing champion, Driss Ajbali, sociologist and writer, recognised expert on migration issues, and Amale Daoud, journalist, specialist in themes related to immigration.
During this evening, a vibrant tribute was paid to Souad Talsi, founder and president of the Al-Hassania Association in the United Kingdom.

An emblematic figure of community engagement, Ms Talsi has been campaigning for more than 40 years for the rights of Moroccan and Arab women in the United Kingdom.
Her commitment earned her an honour from Queen Elizabeth II, a distinction presented by King Charles III.
The Moroccan World Trophies Foundation paid tribute to her this year for her inspiring path.

In a statement to MAP, Amine Saâd, President of the Moroccan World Trophies Foundation, stressed that "the TMM celebrate the entire community of Moroccans established abroad, but also stories of courage, transmission, and success".

"This event allows us to honour not only exceptional individual paths, but also to celebrate this attachment and this strong bond linking MDMs to their country of origin", he added.

In a similar statement, director Said Hamich expressed his joy and pride at being rewarded in his country of origin, stressing that the TMM aim to highlight MDMs with remarkable paths in their host countries and foster meetings and exchanges between Moroccans established abroad.

The TMM 2025 were marked by the organisation of the first edition of the Economic Forum of Moroccans of the World, under the theme "Investment of Moroccans of the World in Morocco".

This event aims to shed light on the investments of Moroccans abroad, as well as their contribution to national growth and their direct impact on the development of the various regions of the Kingdom.

This forum brought together a group of personalities, including entrepreneurs, investors, and economic and financial experts, with the aim of discussing the crucial role of MDMs in the economic development of the Kingdom, while providing all insights into the Moroccan economic environment and the investment opportunities that are particularly available to MDMs.

During this forum, several subjects were addressed, notably "investment opportunities for Moroccans of the world in Morocco", "financing mechanisms for investment projects of Moroccans of the world", as well as "ways to successfully integrate these investments into local and regional development dynamics".
