Marrakech.. Opening of the third edition of the “GITEX Africa Morocco” exhibition

Marrakech – The third edition of the “GITEX Africa” exhibition, which is considered the most important technology and entrepreneurship event on the continent, opened today, Monday in Marrakech, in the presence of about 45,000 participants and 1,400 exhibitors representing more than 130 countries.

The opening ceremony of this major event, organised under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, was distinguished by a recorded video intervention by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, and the presence of a number of government members, Moroccan and foreign investors, representatives of government institutions, speakers, and personalities from different horizons.

This year's edition of “GITEX Africa” is distinguished by a rich programme that includes sectoral seminars, innovative initiatives in the field of creative industries, and professional networking forums with high added value.

Thus, this annual event constitutes a new milestone in the path of consolidating the Kingdom's position as a leading platform for digital innovation in Africa.

This event, which is organised by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, in partnership with the Digital Development Agency, aims to enhance convergence between governments, investors, entrepreneurs, and digital actors.

The “Africa Future Connectivity Summit” is one of the most important events of this version of “GITEX Africa”, and it is a distinguished platform that brings together the most important actors in the fields of telecommunications, cloud computing, and data centres.

This summit will also examine the impact of the expansion of broadband networks, the launch of 5G technologies, and cloud developments, in addition to strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors to structure the digital future of the continent.

This version also witnesses the launch of the “African Diaspora Studio”, as a space dedicated to unifying African competencies spread around the world, with the aim of stimulating investments, concluding cross-border partnerships, and transferring expertise between the African diaspora and local technological ecosystems.

This year's version of “GITEX Africa Morocco” provides an opportunity to highlight strategic sectors such as educational technology (EdTech), agricultural technology (AgriTech), health technology (HealthTech), and sports technology (SportsTech), which is an approach that aims to consolidate the ambition to make technology a lever for socio-economic transformation in Africa.
