Marrakech: Investigation opened against Salma's attacker following threats of recidivism
The judicial police services of Marrakech opened an investigation on 8 April, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, aimed at clarifying criminal acts attributed to a 19-year-old woman, with a judicial record, suspected of having recorded and disseminated digital content inciting violence and defamation against her former classmate (Salma). The suspect has been arrested. Details.
Marrakech: Investigation opened against Salma's attacker following threats of recidivism
Salma, victim of a knife attack in 2022, told the press that she had handed over to the police, on Tuesday, all the threats she had recently received from her attacker, in the form of written messages and videos.

According to the initial elements of the investigation, the suspect had already been sentenced at the end of 2022 to a prison term for having violently attacked Salma with a razor blade, inflicting a deep gash on her face that required 56 stitches. At the time, Salma, then 18, was still a high school student in the physical sciences stream.

Since her release, the suspect has allegedly published several online threats in addition to defamatory content, where she glorifies her past acts.

Faced with the gravity of these facts, the Judicial Police reacted. On the instruction of the public prosecutor's office, an investigation was immediately opened, allowing for the identification and arrest of the main suspect. A digital device, suspected of containing compromising evidence, was seized during her arrest.

The young woman has been placed in pre-trial detention pending the outcome of the judicial investigation, which is still ongoing. Furthermore, investigations are continuing in order to identify any accomplices involved in the production or dissemination of this content inciting violence.

A vast wave of solidarity has been expressed, both on social networks and in the media. Many voices have been raised to denounce the violence of which she was a victim and to demand justice. This citizen mobilisation, marked by messages of support, viral publications and media stances, has contributed to bringing the case to light, and reviving the debate on school violence, its forms, its consequences and the means to prevent it.
