GITEX Africa Morocco, a major third edition to build an African digital landscape

GITEX Africa Morocco, a major third edition to build an African digital landscape

This third edition, which is being held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is distinguished by the organisation of a diverse series of sectoral seminars, innovative initiatives in the creative industry, and high-value networking forums.

Innovation, investment, and digital transformation are the main pillars of this annual event, which establishes a new phase in consolidating the Kingdom of Morocco's position as a key platform for digital innovation in Africa.

This event has come to reflect the vision of a continent that is no longer content with consuming technology, but aspires to design it, participate in it, and influence its direction.

The exhibition, overseen by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, in partnership with the Digital Development Agency, aims to strengthen convergence between governments, investors, business leaders, and digital pioneers.

The third edition of "GITEX" will witness unprecedented turnout, with the exhibition expected to welcome over 45,000 participants and 1,400 exhibitors from 130 countries in Marrakech.

This event, organised by "Koun International", the international branch of the Dubai World Trade Centre, and responsible for all "GITEX" events worldwide, is expected to host over 650 government institutions, 350 investors, and 660 international speakers.

Among the most prominent events of this edition is the "Africa Future Telecoms" summit, an exclusive platform bringing together giants of telecommunications, cloud computing, and data centres.

This summit will explore the impact of broadband, the deployment of 5G technology, and cloud computing technologies, while encouraging public-private partnerships to shape the continent's digital future.

Among the major new features is the launch of the "African Diaspora Studio", a space dedicated to uniting African talent spread across the world, with the aim of stimulating investments, concluding cross-border partnerships, and promoting knowledge transfer among African technology pioneers abroad and local technological ecosystems.

This year, the "GITEX Africa Morocco" exhibition also highlights EdTech, AgriTech, HealthTech, and SportsTech, an approach that reinforces the ambition to make technology a lever for social and economic transformation in Africa.

With the renewed momentum in funding, the biggest names in global investment have begun to turn their attention towards Africa, where investments in African startups are exceeding $2 billion, returning to pre-pandemic levels.

Thus, the European Innovation Council, the largest investor in deep tech in Europe, is participating in the "GITEX Africa Morocco" exhibition through a programme of conferences and workshops.

For its part, the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank's branch dedicated to private sector financing, will highlight ten African startups from its SheWins Africa programme during this edition of the "GITEX" exhibition.

Throughout the event, African and international startups will be showcased on a large scale.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the "Supernova Challenge", the largest African competition dedicated to young startups, judged by a panel of experts, in addition to the Morocco 200 programme, launched by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, in partnership with the Digital Development Agency, to support Moroccan startups in their international development.

There is also an exhibition space entirely dedicated to youth, designed as a meeting place for innovators, visitors, and investors.

The city of Marrakech is hosting, between 14 and 16 April, the third edition of the "GITEX Africa Morocco" exhibition, the largest event related to technology and entrepreneurship on the continent, with new summits and major initiatives on the agenda, in line with the Kingdom's efforts aimed at building the African digital landscape.
