Marrakech will host the 19th edition of the World Water Congress, from December 1 to 5, 2025. It is the Ministry of Equipment and Water that has agreed, with the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), to organize this event in Morocco. The financial envelope provided for all services related to this meeting is estimated at 22.16 million dirhams.
Over the past 43 years, Morocco has experienced seven cycles of drought of varying intensity. This is the reason why it has resorted - in parallel with a proactive policy of dam development - to seawater desalination. The objective is to increase the country's desalinated water production capacity to 1.7 billion cubic meters per year by 2030.
