Marrakech: The AI Film Awards reinvent cinema in the age of artificial intelligence
The AI Film Awards, launched by Houda Lazaar, made a stop in Marrakech to explore the future of cinema via AI. This first event, in partnership with ESAV, merges technology and art to redefine audiovisual storytelling. But what else? The AI Film Awards have set up shop in Marrakech, after making appearances in Cannes, Venice, and Dubai. This event, born from the vision of Houda Lazaar, a Franco-Moroccan passionate about the alliance between technology and cinema, marks a turning point in how artificial intelligence is reinventing audiovisual production, we learn via a press release received by our editorial team.

Organised in partnership with the École Supérieure des Arts Visuels (ESAV), the event takes place in parallel with the Marrakech International Film Festival, bringing together creators, directors, AI experts, and young talents.

Under the patronage of Nabil Bouhajra, director of TV5MONDE Maghreb-Orient, the AI Film Awards 2024 offer an immersion into the future of cinema. Through conferences, screenings of films made with AI, and exchanges on current trends in the sector, the event offers a space for reflection on how AI is redefining cinematic storytelling. This meeting is much more than a simple celebration: it is a laboratory of ideas, a forum for debate, where technology enthusiasts and artistic creators meet. The presentation of the Crystal Brain Trophies, which reward excellence in the use of artificial intelligence for cinematic creation, will crown this innovative adventure.

But Marrakech will not be the last stop. The AI Film Awards are starting an ambitious tour, with stages planned in Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Niger, and in cities like Jamaica, Jeddah, Los Angeles, and Singapore, thus strengthening the links between AI and the global film industry. This tour aims to create bridges between Africa and the rest of the world, while stimulating collaborations within the technological innovation ecosystem.

The event in Marrakech is only the first step in a series of initiatives intended to bring digital creativity to the forefront of the international stage. For Houda Lazaar, it is a successful bet: that of making Morocco an essential player in the dialogue between cinema and advanced technologies, while creating a unique space for artistic innovation in Africa and beyond.
