Signed by Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government, Gianni Infantino, FIFA President, and Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the agreement is part of FIFA's role in the development and promotion of football, given the universal, educational, and cultural impact of this sport.
The objective of this agreement is to accompany and support all initiatives and projects aimed at developing football in Africa.
The signing of this agreement also reflects Morocco's constant commitment to the promotion of football and confirms the key role of the FRMF as a member of FIFA.
Under this agreement, the Moroccan Government and the FRMF commit to taking the necessary measures to support FIFA's projects. This includes, in particular, assisting FIFA in all procedures related to the creation of its Africa Office on Moroccan soil and making the necessary premises available to this office.
Both parties also commit to facilitating the installation of foreign FIFA employees in Morocco and to supporting the Office and its foreign employees in the fulfillment of their missions.
In his speech, Akhannouch indicated that the choice of the Kingdom for the creation of the FIFA Africa Office reflects the confidence of international sports institutions in Morocco, which has just experienced a historic week after being officially chosen as a host country for the 2030 World Cup, alongside Spain and Portugal.
He also assured that the Moroccan Government will facilitate the procedures related to the establishment and management of this office.
For his part, Infantino welcomed the signing of this agreement, highlighting that this office will contribute to the radiance of Moroccan, African, and global football.
"It is a historic and exceptional day for FIFA, for Morocco, and for all of Africa," he said.
On this occasion, the head of world football expressed his sincere thanks to HM King Mohammed VI for the Sovereign's tireless efforts in favor of the development of football in Africa.
The FIFA President also highlighted the rise of Moroccan football and the efforts made in this regard by the FRMF and the Government.
As for the CAF President, Patrice Motsepe, he expressed his thanks to HM the King, the Government, and the Moroccan people, as well as to the FRMF for the Kingdom's contributions in favor of African football, adding that the CAF is proud of Morocco's achievements, both on and off the pitch.
The agreement for the creation of the FIFA Africa Office in Morocco was signed at the Marrakech Congress Palace, on the sidelines of the 2024 CAF Awards ceremony.
