According to a statement on the subject, "The unveiling ceremony for this special stamp was held in Marrakech on Sunday, in the presence of several figures, including the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the President of the Marrakech Communal Council, Fatima-Zahra Mansouri, the Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Salim Mohammed Al-Malik, and the Director General of the Barid Al-Maghrib group, Amine Benjelloun Touimi.
The statement reported that the "Marrakech, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World for 2024" stamp embodies the famous historical landmark of the Menara Gardens, surrounded by its lake and palm trees with the Atlas Mountains in the background, noting that the warm colors and elegant engravings of the stamp reflect the essence of the city of Marrakech, which is a living symbol of Morocco's history and its distinctive architectural heritage.
The same source explained that this new issue, which reflects Barid Al-Maghrib's commitment to promoting the exceptional cultural heritage of the Kingdom of Morocco and commemorating the honors granted to its cities, is added to the collection of stamps that have focused on the city of Marrakech, including the stamp celebrating Jemaa el-Fna square (2017) and the stamp commemorating nine centuries since the founding of Marrakech (1960).
