More than 300 high-level civil, military, and security officials, experts, and representatives of international organisations are expected at the 6th edition of the "Marrakech Security Forum" (Africa Sec-2015), which will take place on 13 and 14 February in Marrakech.
The meeting, placed under the High Patronage of H.M. King Mohammed VI under the theme "Africa facing transnational and asymmetric threats", has established itself over the editions as a unique space for debate, analysis, and exchange of experiences on security in Africa, indicates the Moroccan Centre for Strategic Studies (CMES), the organiser of this Forum in partnership with the African Federation of Strategic Studies (FAES).
The 6th edition of the Forum addresses a multitude of current topics related to security on the continent, including "Security fragilities in North Africa and the progression of asymmetric transnational threats", "The Sahel-Sahara: poorly extinguished conflicts or the risk of a new cycle of violence", "Hotbeds of separatism and rebellion: grey zones in an unstable Sahelo-Saharan space".
Participants in this high-level meeting will also have to debate "challenges of maritime security in the Mediterranean, the Horn of Africa, and the South Atlantic (piracy, terrorism)", "Pandemics (Ebola...): threats to health security in Africa", "emerging threats: multiple, evolving, and complex issues (risks, chemical and biological terrorism threats)".
Also on the programme of this conclave are "foreign terrorist fighters: a new threat to international security", "Africa facing cybercrime and cyber-terrorism", and "Libya: what prospects".
