ENSA-Marrakech represents Morocco in the final of the international programming contest

A team from the National School of Applied Sciences (ENSA), under the Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech, qualified for the final of the international competition "ACM-ICPC 2015" (ACM Association for Computing Machinery), it was learned from the university presidency.

The finalist team, coached by Nabil El Marzouqi, a teacher-researcher at ENSA Marrakech, includes three engineering students from the computer engineering program, namely El Fakir Yhya, Folorunso Olayinka Suday, and Squil Yassir.

After winning the international competition at the national ACM-MCPC 2014 contest (ACM Moroccan Collegiate Programming Contest), the team then won its qualification during the semi-final ACM-ACPC 2014 (ACM Arab Collegiate Programming Contest) which took place in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) with the participation of 73 teams representing several countries.

The final ACM ICPC 2015 competition will bring together finalists from 45 regions which are divided into six major zones: Africa and the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, and the South Pacific. The Africa and Middle East region will be represented at this international competition by Egypt, Syria, and Morocco.

The competition is organized every year by the ACM, based in New York, and the IBM company, official partner of this championship. Its objective is to develop and support scientific research and innovation in the field of computer science.

The ENSA Marrakech team will face renowned teams such as those from St. Petersburg University of Russia (winner of the 2014, 2013, and 2012 editions), Zhejiang University in China (winner of the 2011 edition), and Shanghai Jiaotong University of the same country (winner of the 2010 edition).

During this competition, each team, made up of three people, can only use one computer to solve about ten algorithmic problems in five hours.
