H.R.H. Princess Lalla Hasnaa visits the "Al Kawtar" Association in Marrakech

This visit comes on the sidelines of the 7th World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC 2013), which is being held from 9 to 14 June in the ochre city, under the theme "environmental education and the challenges of better city-countryside harmony".

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa visited a canvas bag manufacturing workshop, launched as part of the national campaign initiated by the Ministry of Energy, Mines, Water, and Environment. Explanations were also provided to H.R.H. Princess Lalla Hasnaa about this association, its missions, as well as the objectives for which it was created in November 2006. The "Al Kawtar" Association, which has benefited from the support of the INDH, campaigns for the promotion of physically disabled women in Marrakech and its surroundings and their socio-professional insertion. It runs an embroidery workshop that offers training to young girls and women who have not had the chance to learn a trade. Bringing together more than thirty women, the association sets itself the goal of offering beneficiaries the possibility of earning their living in an autonomous and dignified manner, of valuing their know-how before transmitting it to other apprentices, and of fairly guaranteeing the marketing of their handicraft products. The association, whose headquarters houses, among other things, a large embroidery workshop, a showroom for the marketing of manufactured products, as well as other outbuildings, also contributes to the promotion of education through foreign language courses, particularly French and English, while offering beneficiaries complete supervision and technical, medical, and personal assistance. Upon her arrival, H.R.H. Princess Lalla Hasnaa was welcomed by Mr. Lahoucine Tijani, delegate president of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, Mr. Mohamed Faouzi, Wali of the Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz region, governor of the prefecture of Marrakech, Mr. Ahmed Touizi, president of the Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz regional council, Ms. Fatima Zohra Mansouri, president of the municipal council of the city of Marrakech, and Ms. Jamila Affif, president of the prefectural council. At the entrance to the "Al Kawtar" association, H.R.H. Princess Lalla Hasnaa was greeted by Ms. Zahra Bohaya, president of this association.
