The signing of these agreements takes place on the sidelines of the seventh World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC 2013), which began on Sunday in the Ochre City under the theme "Environmental education and the challenges of better city-countryside harmony". These agreements were signed by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection with several national and international institutional partners. Signed between the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection and the Ministry of National Education, represented by Minister Mohamed El Ouafa, the first agreement concerns the implementation and generalization of the Eco-Schools programme. It follows an initial agreement that allowed for the experimental implementation of this programme. This international programme of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) was introduced in Morocco in 2006. It aims to teach the principles of sustainable development in primary schools by mobilising students, teachers, parents, and associations around projects on water, energy, waste, biodiversity, and food. A Green Flag rewards the efforts of schools that deploy this programme, the growing success of which has led the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection and the Ministry of National Education to gradually generalise the programme to all schools. Regarding the second agreement, relating to the introduction and promotion of awareness and education on the environment and sustainable development in youth, childhood, and women's centres, it was signed between the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment, in the presence of its minister, Fouad Douiri, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in the presence of its minister Mohamed Ouzzine. Under this agreement, environmental clubs will be introduced in youth centres, along with the training of facilitators, the organisation of educational visits, and the provision of equipment, materials, and awareness-raising tools. As for the third agreement on environmental education, it was concluded by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection with the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) for the 2013-2015 period. Under this agreement, the two institutions propose to promote environmental education programmes within ISESCO member countries, exchange expertise and experience, and develop joint projects. This agreement targets young people as well as civil society, the media, responsible tourism, and the safeguarding of green spaces. Through the signing of these three partnership agreements, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection continues its tireless work of awareness and education, particularly among young people, work that the Foundation considers fundamental and essential to succeed in its mission of environmental protection in the long term. The signing ceremony for these three partnership agreements took place in the presence of, among others, Ms. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, Abdulaziz Othman Al Twaijiri, Director-General of ISESCO, and Jan Eriksen, President of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
