"The national football team will defend its chances until the end on Saturday against Tanzania, in order to be able to qualify for the next 2014 World Cup," affirmed national coach Rachid Taoussi on Thursday in Marrakech. "All the players of the national team are motivated (...) they will defend their chances of qualifying for the next 2014 World Cup. We will wait for a mistake from the Ivorian selection while remaining focused on our match," added Taoussi during a press briefing held 48 hours before the decisive match against the Tanzanian selection. Taoussi also indicated that the Moroccan team had been a victim of bad luck during some previous competitions. "We are on the right path even if the results do not follow, and I acknowledge that during some matches, the national team was unlucky and could not convert the opportunities it created," noted the national coach, observing that the national team will always remain "this locomotive that pulls national football." Taoussi estimated that an enormous amount of work was being accomplished within the selection and the important thing, he said, would be to continue this work and to form a hard core and a team of the future that is up to the expectations of Moroccans and future deadlines. The national coach also assured that he had received the support of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in the person of its president, Ali Fassi Fihri. Regarding the match against Tanzania, Taoussi indicated that the technical staff had been able to draw the necessary lessons from the first leg, during which the national team had created a huge number of opportunities without being able to convert them. "There will surely be tactical changes during this match," he affirmed, expressing the wish that the national selection "finds its identity that it was able to develop" particularly against South Africa during the last Africa Cup of Nations. Regarding the players, he stressed that no player refused to wear the national jersey, affirming that Noureddine Mrabet would be absent for personal reasons while Abdelhamid El Kaoutari, who was consulted by the national team doctor, would need more rest due to injury. Regarding the motivation to play this match in Marrakech, Taoussi stressed that the pitch of the Grand Stade de Marrakech "is excellent," as is the annex field and the climate of the Ochre City.
