In this first attempt, I try to talk about environmental issues, especially in their ecological dimension: pollution, renewable energy, among others. I treat this question with a Moroccan-Moroccan approach. It is the starting point of "Biodégradable", but in the process, I give a nod to various issues related to our society: the marriage between modernity and tradition, the relationship between men and women, the impact of television and social networks on our lives, traffic jams, polygamy, the economic crisis, and sustainable development. I would even say that I am drawing up an assessment of the new challenges of the 21st century.
You are a winner of the first open stages of 2011, how did you experience the Jamel Comedy Club?It is a rich experience, very rich. After winning the open stage competition, I joined the Jamel Comedy Club where I learned a lot about the artistic aspects of stand-up. A boost that pushed me to refine the writing of my sketches. It also allowed me to forge strong links with professionals from all four corners of the world and to exchange my experiences with them. And the following year, I even had the pleasure of performing with the Jamel Comedy Club troupe during the second edition of the Marrakech du Rire festival.
What is the added value of the Festival in your career, your first steps in the big leagues?First of all, it is a good opportunity for any young comedian, particularly a French-speaking one. The challenge of the festival is precisely to unearth the stars of tomorrow and to mentor them. It is also a huge pleasure to find myself on the Festival stage with the big names of comedy from here and elsewhere. I will mention here Patrice Thibaud, Hassan El Fed, Jamel Debbouze, and his troupe, of which I am a member. The festival also gave me credibility. For me, the festival is a major event where we have everything to gain. The parallel activities of the festival attest to this: open stages, masterclasses, the promotion of young comedians, meetings with stars of the genre…
Your sources of inspiration?Humour is something I have been humming since my childhood. From then on, I dropped everything to head towards stand-up. I am essentially inspired by everyday life. That is why in my texts, the societal approach to Morocco and Casablanca in particular is omnipresent. I think it is the simplest way to describe reality. The public finds themselves in it. And so much the better.
What are your projects? For the moment, I am in the middle of a promotional tour for my first stand-up "Biodégradable", for which the show is scheduled for June 7th as part of the Marrakech du Rire. I am also thinking about my next stand-up, which is in the writing phase, in parallel with other projects for the big and small screens and for the theatre.
Not to be missed!
On June 7th at Dar Attakafa Daoudiate, Youssef Ksiyer, winner of the Marrakech du Rire open stages in 2011, returns with his full show: "Biodégradable". It is a great subjective take on today's society. Without any pretension and in all simplicity, the young comedian, a member of the "Jamel Comedy Club" troupe, draws up an assessment here of the major challenges of the 21st century: economic, ecological, and also technological. A moment of relaxation and sharing of a particular perspective on the contradictions of our time.
