An evening mixing the art of Malhoune and Aissaoui Adkars (invocations, prayers) was recently organised at Dar Takafa (House of Culture) in Marrakech, within the framework of the celebration of the Feast of the Throne and Ramadan.
Organised by Dar Takafa and the Cheikh Jilali Mtired Association in coordination with the National Federation of Malhoune and Sufi Heritage Arts Associations-Marrakech section, this evening was hosted by the Cheikh Jilali Mtired Association orchestra led by Cheikh Mohamed El Malhouni and the Marrakchi Aissaouia Taifa under the leadership of Moukhaddam Mohamed Belhaj.
In a festive atmosphere, the public was able to appreciate Malhoune songs such as "Tassaliates" and "Chaoukiates" as well as spiritual songs of Aissaoui dikrs.
This evening was punctuated by the reading of poems celebrating the Feast of the Throne and other texts celebrating the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement to MAP, the secretary general of the Cheikh Jilali Mtired Association, Mohamed Anass El Melhouni, indicated that the organisation of this evening is the result of a partnership between the association and other cultural establishments, and the culmination of this association's activities during this season.
He added that the fusion between Malhoune and Aissaoui dikr is justified by the strong relationship that the two genres maintain, explaining that the majority of Aissaoui Adkhar poets are Malhoune poets.
