The Neighbourhood Festival, an eclectic event intended to promote communication and access to culture and sport in a spirit of community, will take place from 29 June to 1 July in Marrakech, at the initiative of the Menara district. This announcement was made during a press briefing held on Tuesday in the ochre city, to present the main lines of the programme for this event placed under the banner: "Citizenship and fraternity to live better together" and to take stock of a number of projects that have been carried out at the level of this district.
Speaking on this occasion, the president of the Menara district, Adnane Benabdallah, made it known that this unprecedented event aims to bring together inhabitants, associative actors, children, young and old, as well as families around a major cultural, artistic, and sporting event.
He added that the Neighbourhood Festival is also intended to be an annual meeting dedicated to the discovery of young talents in a number of disciplines (music, theatre, sport...).
This event was designed according to "an approach advocating proximity and sharing, which is why we believe that the festival is initiated and invites itself to the neighbourhoods for the first time, so as to directly touch citizens in their living space", said Mr Benabdallah.
He continued that this event will serve as an opportunity for the officials and elected officials of the Menara district to take stock with the inhabitants of the major achievements accomplished in the cultural and sporting fields, among others.
On this occasion, two large indoor multi-sports halls will be inaugurated in the Azzouzia and Askejour neighbourhoods, in addition to the organisation of a series of inter-neighbourhood tournaments in various sporting disciplines. On the menu of this event, organised also in partnership with the Al-Omrane Group and the Autonomous Water and Electricity Distribution Board of Marrakech (RADEEMA), are also the presentation of a number of cultural and artistic works (visual arts, theatre), by the Hay Hassani House of Culture, the organisation of a road race, as well as a ceremony in tribute to a number of the most well-known artists and athletes in the ochre city.
