The project to dualise Regional Road No. 417 connecting the city of Larache to the Tetouan province, from kilometre point 23 to kilometre point 73, which is part of the implementation of a partnership agreement signed between the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, has moved to the implementation and execution phase. Following the issuance of the expropriation decree for the implementation of this important project at the beginning of last September, the Provincial Directorate of Equipment and Water in Larache began implementing the remaining stages of the legal procedure in this regard by corresponding with the communes concerned by the project, especially the Arbaoua Aicha commune, which is located halfway between the two cities, and which is considered the most important beneficiary commune of this project, in order to publish the expropriation procedure notice for public utility, with the remaining stages to be moved to at a later date soon.
Regarding the details, the project concerns the dualisation of 50 kilometres of the road connecting Larache and Tetouan, starting from the Jilalia road junction to the Krouchi Blanco road junction, i.e., starting from the motorway connecting Larache and Tangier, to the expressway connecting Tetouan and Tangier, which means that the road between Larache and Tetouan will become an expressway, part of which is on the motorway and the other part on the other expressway.
The project to dualise this road is of great importance because many rural communes will benefit from it, especially the communes of Ithnain Sidi El Yamani, Arbaoua Aicha, and Jebel Lahbib. It will also reduce travel time between the cities of Larache and Tetouan, and will spare users the difficulty due to the presence of a significant part of this road at the beginning of the Rif mountain range.
