Ksar El Kbir at the time of the International Theatre Festival

Ksar El Kbir at the time of the International Theatre Festival

From 24 to 31 March, the city of Ksar El Kbir will host the second edition of the International Theatre Festival.

This year's edition will be organised by the Nawaris Association for Development and Creation under the theme “Theatre brings us together”, in the presence of theatre troupes from Morocco, Egypt, Latvia, and Algeria.

The Festival will offer a rich programme this year which will see the presentation of plays by Moroccan and foreign troupes, such as “Nawaris Hesperes” from Ksar El Kébir, “Theatre of the Image” from Chefchaouen, “Friendship Theatre” from Larache, “Fou kinetinis” from Latvia, “The Cultural Association of Boumerdès” from Algeria, “The Youth Theatre” from Egypt, and “Mazagan Drama” from El Jadida, in addition to presentations by the Asilah troupe, in collaboration with Rachid Bouasrya.

A statement from the organising committee reports that the edition will be marked by tributes to Abdekrim Berchid, a Moroccan writer and playwright, as well as to the Egyptian artist Mohsen Mansour, who has carved out an honourable place for himself on the Egyptian theatrical scene to become a star of Egyptian television.

The programme also includes conferences, book exhibitions, paintings by Abdelkhalek El Kermadi, Hassan Berrak, and Mokhtar Ghailan, as well as workshops on theatrical production hosted by graduates of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art and Cultural Animation of Rabat (ISADAC). The festival jury is composed of Mohamed Soultani, Abdelaziz Kanjaa, Abdelmajid El Hawass, Mohamed Belhissi, Mourad El Jaouhari, Abass Jada, and Naima Zitan.

This cultural event aims to promote the culture of tolerance, love, and peace through productions reflecting these universal values, and to support local theatre.
