In a report on the results of the previous agricultural campaign presented recently, the provincial director of agriculture (DPA) indicated that among the measures taken was the implementation of programmes to improve cultivation techniques, the strengthening of production means, and the consolidation of technical assistance structures for breeders and farmers in the region.
Selected seedsRegarding the preparation of the 2012-2013 agricultural campaign in the Khémisset province, the director of the DPA stressed that given the encouraging climatic conditions that augur a good season, the projected crop rotation adopted is based on a rather optimistic scenario, with a particular emphasis on the three-year plan for securing cereal production. The area sown with autumn cereals in the Khémisset province has thus reached 127,000 hectares. This area is distributed between soft wheat (79,000 hectares), durum wheat (12,500 hectares), and barley (36,000 hectares). For food legumes, the sown area reached 19,400 hectares. For its part, the marketing of selected seeds, registered at the 20 points of sale throughout the province, reached 2,236 quintals.
