According to Asian media, the subsidiary of the Indian group Samta, Samta Metals and Alloys, recently launched the construction of a copper and aluminium recycling plant in Kenitra, Morocco.
The plant, located in the city's Atlantic Free Zone, will occupy an area of 36,600 m² and represents a total investment of 70 million US dollars. It is expected to enter service in 2026.
The main objective of this facility is to recycle metal waste to produce copper and aluminium alloys. It will use renewable energy to manufacture "green" metals under its own brand, the same sources indicate.
The plant plans to recycle 19,200 tonnes of used copper and 27,540 tonnes of used aluminium each year, with an initial production capacity of 15,000 tonnes of copper and 20,000 tonnes of aluminium per year. Its production will be mainly intended for local automotive, energy, and aeronautical sectors, thus contributing to reducing the country's dependence on imports.
