The Mohammed El Boukili Foundation organised, on the occasion of International Women's Day, a tribute ceremony to one of the emblematic figures of Moroccan women's poetry, the poetess Rayhana Bachir. This cultural meeting was characterised by testimonies, poetry readings and small theatrical performances. During this day when the beautiful weather was present, while the weather forecast announced capricious weather, lovers of the magic of the word had the opportunity to appreciate the full extent of the talent of 3 women poets: Fatiha Benkacem, Amina Shaqi and Khadija Chaker.
On behalf of the Foundation, Maha El Boukili stressed that this poetic evening constituted a tribute and recognition to one of the leading figures of the national poetic scene. A woman, she said, who has largely contributed to the promotion of Moroccan culture at the national and international levels. "Rayhana Bachir's poetry is a musical language, the fruit of an ordeal carrying within it a human message that aims to create a shock in terms of tastes and trigger a change in terms of representations," she indicated. By way of conclusion, Maha El Boukili specified that one of the foundation's major objectives was to put the aesthetic, artistic and creative importance of poetry and what it overflows with as power and richness under the spotlight. Its goal is to encourage and support all initiatives aimed at developing the various forms of cultural creation, whether in the field of visual arts, image, poetry, music, popular arts, calligraphy and other fields of artistic expression.
