The capital of the Gharb has become a preferred destination for national and foreign investors, like the German automotive equipment manufacturer "Kromberg & Schubert".
The economic attractiveness of the city of Kénitra is consolidating over time. Several international companies, and not the least, have decided to set up in the "Atlantic Free Zone" integrated industrial platform. Recently, senior officials from the German group "Kromberg & Schubert" held a working meeting at the wilaya headquarters with local officials.
This German group, which enjoys great international renown in the field of automotive equipment, expressed, during this meeting, its desire to create an industrial unit at the "Atlantic Free Zone" on an area of 4 hectares, for an investment of 266 million DH with the prospect of creating nearly 3,600 jobs.
It should be noted that the Kromberg & Schubert group was created in 1902. It is present in 18 countries and employs nearly 38,000 people in its 33 sites around the world. Its areas of activity cover the development, design and production of wiring, cable harnesses, special electrical wires and mechatronic and electronic automotive components. Its main clients are the German manufacturers Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes and BMW.
This appeal exerted by the city of Kénitra is the result of several factors. We can cite, in this regard, its human and natural potential, its geographical position, its road, motorway and rail infrastructures, without forgetting the great efforts that have been made by regional officials in terms of encouraging investment.
It should be noted that the "Atlantic Free Zone" industrial platform is currently one of the preferred destinations for major international investors. We can cite, for example, the signing, on 19 June 2015, of an agreement between the Kingdom and the French group PSA-Peugeot-Citroën regarding the establishment of an industrial complex for vehicle production in this zone, one of the first latest-generation integrated platforms, carried out within the framework of the National Pact for Industrial Emergence. The arrival of major car manufacturers could only arouse particular interest among equipment manufacturers.
