On the occasion of this month of fasting and reflection, the Secours Islamique France-Maroc launched an operation on Sunday in Kenitra to distribute food supplies to 1,315 families, representing nearly 7,890 people. This charitable operation, organised in partnership with the Muslim Charity Association of Kenitra (AMB) and the Al Karama Association for Disabled Persons of the Gharb, concerns families of orphans, the elderly, the disabled, widows, and destitute people in the cities of Kenitra, Khemisset, Khenifra, Sale, and Sidi Yahia du Gharb. Fatna, in her sixties, a widow supporting 5 children, says with a smile: "I am a widow. I have no resources and my health does not allow me to work. Without the precious help of these generous donors, I do not know how I could have fed my children during this holy month. May God shower them with His blessings." Dr. Taoufik Lahlou, president of the Muslim Charity Association of Kenitra and vice-president of Secours Islamique France-Maroc, emphasised that this operation aims to reach out to needy people to help them alleviate the burden of the prices of products highly consumed during the holy month of Ramadan. He specified that this action is the fourth of its kind organised with Secours Islamique France-Maroc. "We have proceeded this year," he said, "to the distribution of food kits to 1,315 needy families in several Moroccan cities. In the city of Kenitra, the operation concerned 793 families of residents of the Kenitra Charity House, the House for Young Girls and the Elderly, and the Al Karama Association for Disabled Persons."
During this charitable operation, the strong mobilisation of the members of the three associations organising this event was evident. It should be noted that the Secours Islamique France/Maroc (SIFM) is a humanitarian association under Moroccan law linked to the French international organisation Secours Islamique, acting in France and in more than 30 countries to provide support and assistance to the most vulnerable populations.
For its part, founded in 1991, the Secours Islamique France (SIF) is a non-governmental organisation for international solidarity with a social and humanitarian vocation.
The SIF supports disadvantaged populations in France and around the world through the mobilisation of emergency aid, post-emergency aid, and the implementation of socio-economic development actions.
For nearly 24 years, the SIF has been dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the most destitute while respecting cultural diversity, without any distinction of origin, religion, or gender.
Alleviating the suffering of the destitute: The Secours Islamique France-Maroc acts mainly in three areas: food security through seasonal projects during the month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Adha festival, water, hygiene, and sanitation in rural school environments through the construction of water towers and latrines (e.g., Midelt province).
