The capital of the Gharb launches its Regional Real Estate Fair

The capital of the Gharb launches its Regional Real Estate Fair

It's off for the first edition of the Regional Real Estate Fair. Organised jointly by the Association of Real Estate Developers and Land Developers of Kénitra (APILK), the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Kénitra (CICSK) and the Moroccan Association for Consumer Protection and Guidance (AMPOC), this first version has the theme "For a civic real estate promotion".

The Minister of Housing and Urban Policy, Nabil Benabdellah, took this opportunity to emphasise that housing is at the heart of social and economic development.

"We must all work to improve the living environment of citizens, respect their dignity and preserve the environment," he indicated in essence. While acknowledging the positive aspects that have been achieved in terms of housing in Kénitra, the minister did not fail to recall, in this regard, that the capital of the Gharb and other cities in the region have suffered in the past from urban expansion that was difficult to control. Taking the floor on behalf of consumers, Bouazza Kharrati, president of the Moroccan Association for Consumer Protection and Guidance, launched an appeal on this occasion for the "creation of a public body for monitoring and control of the real estate product in order to guarantee the protection of the financial, health and ecological rights of buyers".

He also invited all stakeholders in the real estate field to combine their efforts with a view to improving the quality of buildings and putting an end to certain abuses.

It should be noted that this fair, organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Policy, is punctuated by a series of conferences and round tables led by experts, professionals and public and private actors. The main goal of these meetings is to share experiences between the different stakeholders in the building field. During his speech, Zineb El Adaoui, Wali of the Gharb-Chrarda-Beni Hssen region and governor of the province of Kénitra, praised the organisers of this first fair for this initiative which constitutes, according to her, the opportunity to make the real estate product known at the regional level, given the capital role it plays in the economic development process. "Real estate management must be integrated today into a sustainable development approach. (…) It is extremely important to adopt a rational real estate vision that takes into account respect for legislative and regulatory texts in the matter, ecological balances and historical and ancestral architectural identity," she stressed.

The organisation of the regional real estate fair is taking place at a crucial moment in the history of the city of Kénitra.

The capital of the Gharb has, in fact, entered a new era marked by a proactive strategy to encourage investment and business creation. The time has come to reconcile the city with its flourishing past. Need we recall that Kénitra is one of the cities in Morocco that has suffered the most, over the last two decades, from uncontrolled urbanisation bordering on anarchy. The city almost lost its soul and its architectural cachet because of the voracious appetite of real estate speculators. An awareness is beginning to take shape to restore Kénitra's reputation. We can only rejoice.

Massive presence of professionals: The Regional Real Estate Fair of Kénitra plans, according to the organisers, to attract about 30,000 visitors, of which an average of 60% is likely to be interested in acquiring a property. This first edition brought together a significant number of professionals and actors concerned by the real estate sector, estimated at nearly sixty exhibitors including public administrations, real estate professionals, institutional players, suppliers, etc.
