Cleanliness for the city of Kénitra

A vast programme for cleanliness and environmental qualification of the city of Kénitra has been launched by the Wilaya of the Gharb-Chrarda-Beni-Hssen region with the participation of all relevant stakeholders, notably elected officials, the municipal council, local authorities, and civil society. During the launch ceremony of this campaign, organised under the banner “Let’s keep our city clean”, the Wali of the Gharb-Chrarda-Beni-Hssen region and Governor of the Kénitra province, Mrs Zineb El Adaoui, indicated that promoting the cleanliness of the city requires positive interaction from all stakeholders, local authorities, public administrations, elected officials, economic operators, and civil society. She specified that it also involves adopting a realistic, comprehensive, integrated, and permanent approach, which must be a daily concern in order to achieve a comprehensive environmental qualification of the city. She added that this initiative, dedicated to students, civil society associations, and the staff of companies responsible for household waste collection, is part of the preparations for a programme intended to ensure the permanent cleanliness of the city. This programme, the Wali explained, is divided into two essential axes. The first concerns the development of an emergency plan for the city's cleanliness, focusing primarily on coordinating cleaning operations for neighbourhoods, avenues, streets, and public squares, combating black spots, cleaning the surroundings of mosques, cemeteries, educational establishments, and public and semi-public administrations, while paying particular attention to the embellishment of facades. The success of this programme, she added, requires the mobilisation of all public administrations, economic and social actors, elected officials, and residents through awareness-raising programmes and campaigns in order to establish a culture of permanent mobilisation. The second axis of this programme, Mrs El Adaoui explained, is distinguished by its integrated nature, through which integrated programmes will be prepared, extending to all sectors related to the cleanliness and environmental qualification of the city.
