The "serious" financial crisis that has been undermining the KAC of Kenitra, basketball section, since last year, seems on the way to finding a solution with the beginning of the implementation of the convention signed with the city's municipal council.
The team's officials, who have just launched, for the third consecutive time, an appeal for possible memberships to the club's decision-making structures in search of new support to save the team, have "found their smile" following the municipal council's decision to increase the subsidy intended for the club, part of which will be released immediately.
"I am starting to have a little hope," indicated to MAP the club's delegate president Hicham Ameur, who is currently ensuring the responsibility of the team after the resignation of Mohamed Rherras to protest, precisely, against "the lack of support for his team".
And to lament that "until now, the appeal launched by his team has not succeeded and that the only silver lining is the beginning of the execution of the commitments of the municipal council of the city of Kenitra, which has agreed to grant the club premises in the Al-Wahda covered hall, in the city centre, and to entrust it, in order to ensure fixed income, with the management of a children's play area, six advertising panels, and a kiosk".
The council will also carry out renovation work on the team's hall, located in the upper city, and build showers and changing rooms there.
A joint commission, indicated Mr. Ameur, will meet next week to examine the club's proposals.
The team, it is recalled, had reached the first division during the 2011-2012 season, then relegated, the same year, to the second division, a failure that the officials attribute to the crisis the club is going through.
The former president of the club had indicated to MAP that if the team was able to continue to ensure its presence in the championship, "it is thanks to the initiatives and personal sacrifices of a small group of its officials".
