The Court of First Instance of Kénitra postponed the trial of blogger Jawad Guelii, prosecuted for insulting a civil servant in the exercise of his duties, to April 23rd on Tuesday.
The court also rejected, for the second consecutive time, the defense's request for provisional release in favor of the blogger, currently detained in the local prison of Kénitra.
During the first hearing on April 9, the defense had argued that its client had all the guarantees to enjoy provisional release, which the court had rejected.
Jawad Guelii is supported by several human rights organizations that describe this trial as an infringement on freedoms.
