El Jadida Horse Show: Belgian Jérôme Guery wins the HM the King's Grand Prix of show jumping
Equestrian sports Belgian rider Jérôme Guery, riding "Kiliman Sitte", won the HM King Mohammed VI Grand Prix of show jumping (CSI 5*W -160 cm) on Sunday, the final stage of the 15th Morocco Royal Tour (MRT), organised as part of the 17th El Jadida Horse Show. The Belgian rider won this World Cup Grand Prix, contested in two rounds, by completing the course in 46.45 seconds (0 penalty points), ahead of British rider Chloe Aston riding "Akito Von Rocherath Z" (47.79/0 points) and Frenchman Simon Delestre on "Golden Boy DK" (41.28/4 points). In a statement to the press, Jérôme Guery indicated that equestrian sports are experiencing constant evolution in Morocco, as evidenced by the 5-star competition held in El Jadida, which represents the highest level of show jumping competition. In this sense, he stressed that it is always a pleasure to compete in Morocco, especially during a competition of this level. Commenting on the progress of Moroccan riders, he stated: "Since I have been participating in the MRT, ten years ago, I have noticed a clear evolution. The first year, only rider Abdelkebir Ouaddar was able to compete at a 5-star level. Today, we were able to see eight Moroccan riders take part in this Grand Prix". He also highlighted the progress of equestrian sport in Morocco, illustrated in particular by the second place obtained by the Moroccan team during the Nations Cup last week. According to him, Morocco is now able to compete with the best European nations. The El Jadida stage (15 to 18 October) is the third and final stage of the MRT, organised under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, after those of Tetouan (1-4 October) and Rabat (7-11 October). The MRT 2026 marked an important step in the evolution of the circuit. After 15 years of continuous development, it has reached a new sporting milestone with the promotion of its final stage in El Jadida, now contested in CSI5*W and CSI2*, as well as those of Tetouan and Rabat contested in CSI2*, CSI4*W, and CSIO4*W. Some 126 riders and 220 horses representing 15 countries took part in this stage, which is distinguished by its technical demand and international reach. Organised under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the El Jadida Horse Show has become, over the years, a space for exchange and dialogue between the various actors in the equine world and a showcase for the regions of Morocco, allowing them to highlight their specificities and their contribution to the preservation of the Kingdom's rich equine cultural heritage. Initiated by the Horse Show Association, this event, which has been able to acquire a constantly growing national and international reputation, offers a rich and diversified scientific, cultural, and recreational programme.
