Confederation Cup: RS Berkane beats Stade Malien and qualifies for the next round

Renaissance Sportive de Berkane, led by Tunisian coach Mouine Chaabani, snatched a precious away victory against Stade Malien (1-0) on Sunday evening in the 4th matchday of Group B of the CAF Confederation Cup, securing their qualification for the next round.

The only goal of this match, played at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako, was scored by striker Imad Riahi in the 64th minute, allowing the Berkanis to achieve their 4th consecutive victory in the group stage and validate their ticket for the quarter-finals.
At the end of this matchday, RS Berkane strengthens its position as leader with 12 points, ahead of the South African club Stellenbosch (6 pts). Stade Malien is third with 4 points, while Lunda Sul of Angola brings up the rear with only one point.
Furthermore, Walid Karti's teammates beat Espérance Sportive de Tunis with a score of 2 goals to 1 at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in Cairo. Espérance opened the scoring in the 56th minute thanks to Youssef Belaïli. However, Pyramids FC turned the situation around at the end of the match: Mostafa Fathi equalised in the 90th minute from a pass by Ramadan Sobhi, then Ibrahim Adel scored the winning goal in stoppage time, in the 90th+3 minute.
This victory allows Pyramids FC to close the gap on Espérance in the group standings, thus reviving the race for qualification for the quarter-finals.
