Security sources revealed to "Hesport" that a regional security meeting was held today, Tuesday, in the city of Berkane to discuss the security and organisational aspects of the Renaissance Berkane and Raja Club Athletic match, scheduled for next Sunday, for the 16th round of the Moroccan Professional League, during which a decision was taken to ban the visiting team's fans from travelling.
According to the same sources, the decision will be communicated to the Wilaya of the Casablanca-Settat region for dissemination, adding that "the decision concerns the total ban on Raja Club Athletic fans attending the Municipal Stadium in Berkane, and not just collective travel."
Regarding the reason for taking this decision, the same sources explained, in statements to "Hesport," that "the threats and previous riots that occurred in the matches of the two parties in Berkane were among the reasons that prompted the authorities to take this precautionary measure."
The match between the leaders Renaissance Berkane and their guests Raja Club Athletic will take place next Sunday at the local Municipal Stadium for the first round of the second leg of the Moroccan Professional League competitions.
Renaissance Berkane leads the Moroccan League standings with 33 points from 10 wins, 3 draws, and one defeat, while Raja Club Athletic occupies sixth place with 23 points, collected from 6 wins, 5 draws, and 3 defeats.
